1 新媒体 (New media)

网络媒体是传媒、新闻界增长最快的领域，新媒体专业将传统新闻课程与数字媒体设计和管理结合起来。其中有些学校更注重电脑技术和网页设计，例如旧金山艺术学院；另一些学校则更强调传播整合和数码技术，比如印第安纳大学和普度大学。

New Media is the means of masscommunication using digital technologies such as the Internet. The new media has also become central to the political arena.

2 生物工程 (Biotechnology)

生物工程专业兼顾生物学和工程学，旨在解决农业、食品科学、和医学方面的实用问题，是一项交叉学科。生物工程专业通常与商学课程相辅佐，提供两个专业的双学位。很多生物工程专业原本都是研究生水平的，不过，近来本科学位毕业生的需求越来越高。

3 有机农业(Organic agriculture)

2006年，华盛顿州立大学率先开设了有机农业专业，为了适应消费者对有机食品的需求量增加，很多大公司开始雇用这方面的专门人才。佛罗里达大学也在2006年开始增设了有机农业专业，尽管这个专业尚未在高校中广泛设立，不过一些学校已经看中了他未来的发展潜力。

4 国土安全专业 (Homeland security)

9.11后兴起的国土安全专业课程涵盖面很广，从心理学到灾难救助，从联邦法律到危险物品处理。美国联邦政府的国土安全部为这个专业的学生提供了相当多的奖学金和助学金，并在国土安全防御中心提供一个18个月、授予学位的培训课程。
