错误二:搞混元音
This has been interesting. I have two friends. One person, a girl, is named Danielle, and the other, a
boy, is named Daniel. Many times my friends, who aren't native speakers of English, have a hard
time distinguishing who's name I just said in conversation. Perhaps you would to! No worries, but it
does make things a little funny.
我有两个朋友,一个叫Danielle的女孩,另一个是叫Daniel的男孩。很多时候,我许多非英语为母语的朋友就
会搞混这两个名字。可能你也会。这个没什么的,大家不要担心。虽然它确实让我们这些老外觉得挺有趣
的。
Danielle [dænˈjel]vs Daniel ['dænjəl]
Syllable Stress is different
重读位置不一样
Consonants/e/vs /ə/
Warrior vs Werrior (à "Werrior" is not a real word in English.)
['wɔriər] vs [‘hweriər]
Consonants/ɔ/vs /e/
So, your English-speaking friends aren't crazy when they say that these sounds are different. For
example, you understand that sounds /u/and are different /ü/. It turns out that many monolingual
Americans can't distinguish these sounds very well, and they often have trouble saying them as well.
当你的外国朋友说这些发音是不一样的时候,不要觉得他们是疯了哦。比如长元音的/u/和短元音的/ü/就是
不一样的。很多只会说英语的美国人也不是很能理解这两个发音的区别,他们也经常在这上面犯错误。
It is a matter of ear training and learning how to make the sounds with your mouth.
想要发好这些音的话,必须大量“磨耳朵”,同时加强练习。

错误三:用错单词形式
This was kind of hard to believe, but I was on bing.com and the bing robot chat box was open on my search results and it was asking me a question, "Are people so curiosity?"
这点很让人难以置信,但是它确实存在。有一次我在必应上搜索问题,它的搜索结果突然弹出了这样一个问
题:"Are people so curiosity?"
What's wrong with this question? Curiosity is a noun! They meant to ask was, "Are people so
curious?" Where curious is used in its proper form as an adjective.
这句话有什么问题呢?"Curiosity"是一个名词。本来要问的应该是"Are people so curious? 这里的正确形式
应该是用"Curiosity"的形容词"curious"。
I have high standards for robots—how could they have programmed it incorrectly? However, I try to be a bit more lenient and forgiving with people. Curious, curiosity, curiously…unless you are familiar with these words, it's a bit difficult to remember when to use these words.
我对于机器人向来是有高要求的——它们怎么可以被错误编程呢?善良如我,试着对犯错的人保持仁慈宽容
的态度。Curious, curiosity, curiously,除非你对于这些单词了然于胸,不然正确地记住它们的使用规则还是
有点困难。
Perhaps it's better to think of these words as performing a function, rather than just memorizing
their forms.
最好是思考它们在语境中所扮演的作用,而不是仅仅记住它们的形式。
E.g.Curiosity is an important human characteristic.(noun)
好奇心是人类一项重要的品质。(名词)
E.g. He is a curious person. (adjective)
他是一个充满好奇心的人。(形容词)
E.g. He stared at her curiously wondering what she was thinking. (adverb)
他充满好奇地盯着她看,想知道她到底在想什么?
