从2017年开始，以下科目会被移除A-level教育体系(已经在学习这些科目的学生不会受到影响)：

Economics and Business (jointly - can still be taken as separate subjects)

General studies
Global development (will be available at AS only)

Home economics: Food, nutrition and health
Human biology
Humanities
Informationand communication technology (ICT)
Leisure studies
Media: Communication and production
Moving image arts
Pure mathematics
Quantitative methods (will be available at AS only)
Science (will be available at AS only)
Sciencein society
Statistics
Travel and tourism
Use of mathematics (will be available at AS only)

大学如何看待A-Level 改革?
以牛津大学为例，牛津大学从来不把AS-level的考试成绩作为学生申请的必要要求，反而会更加重视GCSE的成绩，和已取得的、或预测将取得的A-level成绩(或其他同等水平测试成绩)。
同时，牛津还会以学生的个人陈述、学术推荐信和写作水平为参考，决定是否录取。如果学生在AS-level考试中没有取得A或A*的成绩，反而会对大学申请有不利影响，因为牛津大学的绝大部分申请者在GCSE, AS-level和A-level考试中都获得了A或A*的成绩。
牛津大学建议学生在A-level阶段要更加重视学习的深度而非广度。
